What is a life coach?

Reading Time: 5 minutes
A life coach is a trained coach that uses honed communication skills to support clients as a thinking partner to help them shift their mindset, overcome challenges, achieve their goals and gain the freedom to live the life they want.

The relationship between client and coach is unique, in that both have an active role. Together, we build a co-creative relationship, meaning we are equals.

Is a coach the same as a therapist or counselor?

Reading Time: 5 minutes
Life coaching is a distinctive service that differs in a lot of ways from therapy and counseling.

Life coaching is focused on growth and performance models, goals and actions, problem solving, personal evolution, the present and the future, and helping people go from functional to extraordinary. Therapy is focused on medical models, issue resolution, personal strengthening, the past and present, and helping people become or remain functional.

What can a life coach do for me?

Reading Time: 5 minutes
At the highest level, a coach can help you transform your life and gain the freedom to live the way you want. A coach can help you overcome challenges you never thought you could solve. A coach can help you take a good life and make it an exceptional life.

For that to happen, two things are needed:

  • A client who is open-minded; ready and willing to change thoughts, behaviors and actions; and courageous enough to never give up on the ultimate goal.
  • A coach who listens and is present with the client; asks thought-provoking questions; invites and inspires mindset shifts; and, above all else, believes in the client and genuinely cares about the client’s success.

How do I know if life coaching is for me?

Life coaching is for people who have the desire and the belief that they can change their lives for the better. Whether it’s a simple mindset change or a major life transformation, a successful coaching partnership has the power to make it a reality.

What is a sample coaching session?

Reading Time: 5 minutes
A sample coaching session is a free “test drive” of a full coaching session. You bring an agenda item you would like support with and I provide coaching on that topic.

The sample sessions allow both of us the opportunity to see if we’d be good fit for a coaching relationship moving forward. If we mutually agree to continue the coaching relationship at the end of the sample session, we’ll discuss a coaching package best suited for you.

What is the benefit of a sample coaching session?

Reading Time: 5 minutes
Through sample coaching sessions, you experience the power of coaching and how future coaching sessions would impact your life. You also get to try out my coaching style to see if it it’s a good fit for you.

I use the sample sessions to get a clear understanding of whether you would benefit from having a coach. If I feel I’m not the best coach for you after our session, I’ll let you know and perhaps refer you to a coach that is better suited for you.

I want my clients to receive maximum value out of our coaching sessions. Not only will that help them reach their full potential, but it also helps me grow my coaching practice. Clients aren’t going to be inclined to recommend or refer me if they don’t achieve their goals as a result of our sessions. To that end, I will only enroll clients if I believe I am the best coach for them.

How long are coaching sessions and where do they take place?

Reading Time: 5 minutes
Coaching sessions are one hour and are held via phone or video call.

I am not a therapist, counselor or consultant. I am a trained coach using honed communication skills to support clients as a thinking partner. Reading Time: 5 minutes
That one is for you to decide. Personally, I invest in my own life coach and it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

If it helps, ask yourself, “How much would I be willing to invest to experience the freedom of reaching my full potential, overcoming any challenges and living the life I want?”
